Meet the Founders
Hesham Abdel Wahab,
Hesham started his career in Banking in 1999. Seven years later he made a career shift to advertising and is currently an Account Director at a regional advertising agency. His interest in carpooling came about when he moved to Sheikh Zayed City (a residential suburb on the eastern outskirts of Cairo) and realized that most of his neighbors are taking the same route to work every day. He co-founded Egypt Carpoolers in September 2008 and has been working on developing and running the website ever since.
Hind Rasheed,
Hind is currently an Account Manager at an international PR and Communications consultancy firm. Prior to that Hind worked at the Economic Research Forum; a regional network of economic researchers in the Middle East. Before that she was with the Global Development Network, an International Organization of researchers, policy and research institutes promoting the generation development research. Hind had suffered a great deal of trauma as a result of her commute for Maadi to the Smart Village on a daily basis for 2 years in a row and hence her passionate interest in making this carpooling endeavor a success.
Nada Bahgat,
Nada started her career in Training & Development in 2000. In 2008 she joined a global software company as a partner enablement executive for the MEA region. Nada is a Mohandiseen resident that suffers everyday from the unbeatable traffic in that area. "I used to try all the shortcuts in and out of the area to avoid traffic, but it never worked!" claims Nada. In 2008, Nada joined her friends in developing Egyptcarpoolers.com hoping it would contribute to solving the traffic problem.
May El Haggar,
May is currently a Research Director at one of the top investment banks in Egypt. May, as a Mohandiseen resident, first discovered the benefits of carpooling, when her Mohandiseen office moved downtown and she and her Mohandiseen colleagues decided to carpool, sharing one parking spot and traffic woes. When she moved to another job in Garden City, she missed carpooling, especially with immediate co-workers living in Heliopolis carpooling every day. That's why she was enthusiastic about a website helping potential carpoolers find each other, in addition to having less traffic and less pollution in our good old Cairo.
Malak Fateen,
Malak started her career in advertising in 1999. 2 years later, she moved to the USA where she worked as a marketing consultant for a Bariatric Surgery Center. After 4 years in the states, she moved back to Egypt where she worked as a marketing coordinator at an international bank. Currently, Malak is the Business Development and Marketing Manager at an International School. She started carpooling on a personal level with her friends and co-workers in all her previous jobs where one way or another, she managed to bump into people living in the same neighberhood or even her same building. Finally, in an attempt to make a change, she joined her friends in initiating and creating Egyptcarpoolers.com to facilitate commuting for everyone.
